Profile

Sahar El Echi is a visual artist, filmmaker, and film studies researcher based in Tunisia. She graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Tunisia and holds an MA in Visual Design. Sahar has made significant contributions to the arts through her independent filmmaking and active participation in collective exhibitions. Notably, she served on the selection committee for the Malmö Arab Film Festival and recently directed the Carthage Critics' Week at the Carthage Film Festival.

Her work spans various international programs and residencies, including Documentary Film Methods at the Danish Film School, Durban Talents, and Locarno Industry Academy. Sahar was also honored with the CAORC/Andrew Mellon Art History fellowship in 2020 and 2022. Most recently, she completed a residency at the Fiminco Foundation in Romainville in 2023.
