Ju Bentes, also known as Skyyssime, is an artist, cultural producer, and researcher based in Brazil. Performing as the Themônia drag Skyyssime since 2016, he creates work across nightlife, theatre, and public programmes. His recent performances in Belém, Fortaleza, São Paulo, and Lille reflect a focus on queer Amazonian ecologies, territoriality, and collective care.
Ju is from Belém do Pará and works across the Amazon. He is a PhD candidate in Arts at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) and teaches in the School of Theatre and Dance (ETDUFPA). He is Vice-President of ASCULTA (Associação Cultural das Themônias da Amazônia) and the founder of Haus of Carão, a platform for trans, queer, and dissident arts. His book Ekoaoverá was published in 2020.
