Profile
Candryani Yulis is a Yogyakarta-based artist who utilizes the mediums of installations, drawings, and videos to translate her research findings into artworks and engage with collective public memories. A graduate from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts, she has been continuously learning about history and women’s position in society, provoking critical questions of identity as a symbolic gesture in contemporary life. In her practice, Candrani reviews the religious system that she lives in through her works and raises a discussion on this subject matter in a thoughtful yet poetic way through the language of art.
