Nejbir Erkol is a multidisciplinary artist based in Türkiye. Nejbir holds a bachelor’s degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Mardin Artuklu University and a master's degree in Painting from Hacettepe University’s Institute of Fine Arts. Her practice spans video, installation, painting, and performance, and she works on the concept of the precariat, disrupting the role of objects as memory carriers in individual, family, and social contexts through performative gestures. In her work, Nejbir deals with the concepts of fragility, vulnerability, pain, and trauma in relation to her own body. Nejbir has participated in many group exhibitions and projects, most recently in the exhibition “Forgetting the Past is a Gilded Lie” (2023) at Karsı SanKarsı Sanat Calısmaları in Istanbul, Temporary Dialects’ online festival, “Bridges Through My Window” (2021), and she also took part in the 5th Mardin Biennial, “The Promise of Grass” (2022).
