Profile
Laurent Sindhu is a screenwriter and director based in Indonesia. His work explores how historical violence continues to shape individual consciousness and everyday life in post-New Order Indonesia. His films engage with silence, memory, and complicity, examining how official narratives are absorbed, normalized, and left unquestioned. Working across fiction and experimental forms, he combines restrained surreal elements with observation to visualize internal states that resist clear articulation.
His short films include "A Mute Ballad" (2023), "Therefore I Am" (2025), and "Judecca" (2025). He is currently developing his first feature screenplay, "Prahara" (Year of the Tempest), alongside a proof-of-concept short, "Nirwajah" (Framing the Faceless), as part of an inquiry into cinema's role in shaping collective memory.
