Profile

Kevin Avila is a director, photographer, and editor based in Cuba. Kevin holds a degree from the University of Arts (ISA) in Havana. His art practice spans installation, music, video, design, and media such as cinema, and he’s interested in creating a history of the present and generating content that dialogues in opposition to the political narrative established by the Cuban government. Kevin is the author of the original score for “Sin 349”, a documentary series that portrays the Cuban cultural independent community’s opposition to a law limiting cultural rights and making censorship legal. “Sin 349” was shown at various spaces, such as Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid. His “Library for Spine Readers” installation has been shown at the Havana Biennal in Cuba, Espace Témoin in Geneva, and at Columbia University’s Wallach Art Gallery in New York.
