Samwel Japhet is a dancer & movement artist from Tanzania. After a rough childhood of homelessness and abuse, he graduated with a diploma in Contemporary and Tanzanian Traditional dance from the MUDA Africa Dance School, Tanzania in 2016. He is a founding member and artistic director of Nantea Dance Company and has performed previously at the ACCAC Culture Festival 2021, Finland, Tanz Tangente Dance Festival 2020, Germany and International Dance Festival 2019 in South Korea. Reflecting on social issues and human experiences he uses dance to express ideas and create a space for reflection, awareness and discussion.
