Profile
La Lola Rizo is a non-binary artivist and performer based in Nicaragua. Their practice is centered around community organizing and the expanded multimedia, political drag cabaret, experimenting with diverse performative elements and addressing current issues that range from post-Cold War politics, queer identity, and drag imperialism.
La Lola Rizo is a member of the local Operacion Queer collective and has been an active organizer of different queer artivist projects in Central America, such as the experimental drag space "La Discordia Travesti" in Guatemala, the first-ever Nicaragua-Costa Rica visual memory archive "Queer Memory Trans Frontier", and their own colonial anti-beauty pageant "Miss Imperial Central American Tropical Drag Queen".
