RUIFEN CHEN is an artist based in China (People’s Republic of China). Their practice focuses on textiles, community art, and relational narratives, blending traditional craft techniques with contemporary social issues. RUIFEN works with diverse materials and techniques, including weaving and knitting, sewing, woodworking, painting, and ceramics.
RUIFEN runs Witch Tailor Space, a semi-open studio in Guangzhou that encourages self-expression and material exploration. Through the "Witches’ Craft Workshop", they organise sessions aimed at expanding craft knowledge and investigating its role in public art. One of RUIFEN’s notable works, "Footnotes of Time", is a series of woven wooden tools that explore the relationship between weaving and narrative structure.
