Profile

Ọlájídé Ayẹni is a media artist based in Nigeria. Ọlájídé tells stories about the built environment and its relationship to people. He documents urban change, and how it impacts people living and working within sites of action, construction, or destruction.  With a background in architecture, Ọlájídé's work is heavily inspired by the urban and built environment through which he highlights different unnoticed, everyday elements: in from buildings and urban and civic projects, informally designed objects, spaces, and entities, such as gates, windows, bus sheds; particularly how they influence human interaction and experience. Through his work, he hopes to help different people understand the intricacies of the African built environment, how it looks in its many shades, and to also preserve its memory.
