Profile

Leul Shoaferaw is a film director, writer, and producer based in Ethiopia. Leul holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations from Addis Ababa University. He began his career at Y&G Communications as a media researcher and later joined Gobez Media to work as a writer, director, and producer. Leul is the co-founder and creative manager at WAG Entertainment, a multidisciplinary entertainment agency representing young talents in the otherwise untapped creative industry of Ethiopia. Leul kicked off his personal production journey with a short film titled “Ballad of the Spirits” and later wrote and directed the short film “Plumes Blanches”. “Plumes Blanches” had its international premiere at FESPACO in 2019 and has been an official selection at multiple international festivals, including New York African Film Festival, Durban International Film Festival, and more. The film won Best Film on African Cultural Issues at the Lake International Pan African Film Festival in Kenya.
