Cayque Castro is an Afro-Brazilian cultural practitioner based in Brazil. His work connects art, activism, and community-building. He has led impactful initiatives such as constructing community kitchens in underserved areas, including Indigenous villages, transforming them into spaces of cultural preservation and economic empowerment. Through his work, Cayque seeks to create meaningful connections that empower communities and promote collective transformation. Driven by a commitment to challenge inequalities, celebrate heritage, and inspire resilience, his practice reimagines the role of art in society.
He has collaborated with artists like Sonia Gomes, fostering projects that amplify marginalised voices and bridge social movements with contemporary art. Cayque Castro’s engagement with the art world began with this kitchen project, which received funding from Fortes D'Aloia & Gabriel, a gallery where he worked from ages sixteen to eighteen. In 2020, they served 48,000 meals; by 2021 and 2022, they had established four kitchens in São Paulo.
