Profile
Xu Sanhuang is an independent artist based in China (People's Republic of). Her practice begins with paper and extends to natural and site-specific materials such as beeswax, raw silk, plant fibers, seeds, and insect remains. Through installation, material research, and site-based practice, she explores relationships between humans and their environments. Sanhuang understands making as a way of knowing and of building relationships.
Rather than aiming for predetermined outcomes, her works emerge through open-ended processes shaped by material experience, personal perception, and ecological awareness. Beyond individual production, she extends her practice into non-formal education and socially engaged contexts through workshops and collaborative projects, where making becomes a low-threshold mode of learning and exchange.
