Sidahmed Alphadi Seidnaly, known as Alphadi, is a fashion designer based in Niger. He is known for his blend of avant-garde fashion and traditional African styles. Alphadi has been lauded as the "magician of the desert" by fashion icons like Yves Saint Laurent, Paco Rabanne, and Takada Kenzo. His designs are recognized for their international appeal, combining ancient textile techniques with contemporary elements to create couture.His commitment to African fashion is seen through his role as chairman of the Federation of Fashion Designers, which promotes the organization and professional development within Africa's fashion industry. In 1998, he launched the first Festival International de la Mode Africaine (FIMA) in Niger's Tiguidit desert, an event that has become a platform for cultural exchange and dialogue between designers from around the world.In recognition of his contributions to fashion, culture, and peace, UNESCO designated Alphadi as an Artist for Peace in 2016. Alphadi also leads the Alphadi Foundation, aiming to improve the lives of women and children in the Sahara and foster employment in the region. His work not only showcases the rich heritage of African textiles but also promotes a message of peace and unity through fashion.
