Profile

Sara Médiouni is a filmmaker and visual artist based in Tetouan, Morocco. Sara first encountered documentary writing while working at the Cinémathèque de Tanger and decided to pursue it by enrolling in the documentary cinema master’s program at Abdelmalek Essaadi University in Tétouan, where she directed several short films. By experimenting with various mediums, she has developed an interest for hybrid documentary forms, paying close attention to the interplay between text and image and exploring the poetic and political potentials of editing.

She is also part of the post-graduate Film Curating program at Elias Querejeta Zine Eskola in San Sebastián, Spain. Currently, her research focuses on Al Anis, a nationalist cultural magazine published in Tétouan between 1947 and 1952. Beyond filmmaking, Sara has extended her artistic exploration into various mediums including photography, 3D animation, self-publishing, and podcasting.
