Nabyl is a curator, organiser, and multidisciplinary artist based in Maldives. His work examines Maldivian histories, traditions, and cultures in relation to the current socio-political landscape, in an attempt to reconcile with his own identity and that of his ancestral past. His curatorial practice focuses on instigating discourse between works, artists, and visitors rather than simply displaying, and he regards his artistic practice as part of his curatorial one, each feeding the other.
Working between the two, he creates fragments of conversation examining the socio-politics of living in Male' City. He is the assistant curator of Gallery350 and organises independent exhibitions, shows, performances, and publications under the art collective 3rdhaus. Nabyl is also a founding member of the Maldivian artist collective Loagandu.
