Gabal is a self-taught visual artist and researcher based in Egypt. His practice spans conceptual art, archiving, and research in palaeontology and zoology, blending artistic expression with scientific inquiry. Gabal’s work engages with themes of urban change, historical preservation, and collective memory in contemporary Egypt.
Gabal is the founder of the Egyptian Geographical Museum Society, where he works to preserve Egypt’s natural heritage, and the co-founder of the Giza Zoo Collective, which explores the zoo’s social and political significance. He began his artistic journey through drawing workshops at the Townhouse Gallery and later worked as an artist assistant in the Sawa Workshops. He has participated in several exhibitions, most recently Mesalah, a trio exhibition at Access Art Space in July 2024.
