Profile
Lucia Herbas is an artist and researcher based in Bolivia. Residing in the inter-Andean valleys of Cochabamba, she navigates her days between the rural and the urban. Her artistic practice centers on research, unfolding through hybrid methodologies, expanded formats, and sensitive experimentation. Her work is permeated by constant reflection on territoriality, agricultural production, orality, aurality, and extractive processes.
Lucia’s work revolves around memory and its discursive frameworks, approached through poetic lenses that link the sonic, the performative, the scenic, and the radiophonic. Her process is rooted in collective practice, and she upholds listening as a creative and epistemic force, a vital form of honest relation. By co-building community sound counter-archives, she draws from rural poetics and the hidden codes of memory to cultivate more attentive, self-determined futures.
