Andrés Pérez is a non-binary artist and self-taught photographer from Venezuela, currently based in Colombia. Andrés studied Art and Film at the Central University of Venezuela, where they built a sensibility for the image. Their work focuses on narratives of gender, identity, memory, and the queer body, while also addressing anti-patriarchal stories and the deconstruction of heteronormativity with an interest in preserving a more diverse memory.
In 2023, Andrés won the Pride Photo Award in the Series category with their work “Dead Damily”, and in 2022, they won the Creadores de Imágenes scholarship, a Latin American educational network with a focus on photographic research and experimentation workshops. Their work has been exhibited at Vist Projects, Encuentro Fotográfico de Santander in Colombia, Organización Nelson Garrido in Venezuela, and Norway’s National Museum of Photography.
