Siarhei Kavaliou is an artist, researcher, and amateur filmmaker based in Belarus. Sierhei works at the intersection of audiovisual heritage, remembrance culture, and documentary practice. His work explores how private depictions of everyday life can reshape public history, examining the emotional and political dimensions of memory—an interest shaped by experiences of repression under the Soviet regime and reflected in his focus on memory, resilience, and cross-cultural collaboration.
Siarhei is the founder of kalyska.archive, a cultural initiative dedicated to preserving and recontextualizing personal histories. He also directed "inTact" (2025), an experimental film project, and "7 Days of War" (2022), a documentary constructed from found footage.
Siarhei's work has been presented internationally, including a cinematography debut in a feature film at Berlinale 2025 and a video installation in the "Natureza Urbana" exhibition in Brazil (2024). A member of the Belarusian Independent Film Academy and the INEDITS Association, he is also a recipient of the Gaude Polonia Scholarship (2025).
