Liu Shuai is an artist and insect researcher based in the People’s Republic of China. Liu pays special attention to the plight of animals that are forced to leave their original habitats due to human activities, and the interaction between these animals and the ecological environment and human society. In his works, animals and other creatures become the main characters and are given emotional imagination, such as homesickness. His work is related to specific locations and through research in different areas, he collects the traces left by animals and connects them with local culture, history, and anecdotes; to tell the story of where animals and people come from and where they go.
