Profile
Katlego Caitlyn Twala is a contemporary painter based in Botswana. Working primarily in oil on linen and cotton, her practice draws on classical realist techniques while speaking to contemporary social themes. Influenced by feminist writers such as bell hooks, Twala explores lineage, gender, and familial relationships within the southern African context, and the ways the contemporary Motswana woman interacts with them.
She studied at the Swedish Academy of Realist Art and the Barcelona Academy of Realist Art, grounding her work in a strong technical foundation. Her work has been presented at the 2025 Latitudes Art Fair with Banana Club and at the FNB Art Joburg Fair with Everard Read Gallery. She lives and works in Gaborone.
