Profile
Jimena Chávez Delion is a Peruvian visual artist from Lima. She holds a master's degree from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp, and was a laureate of the Friends of S.M.A.K. Prize (Ghent) in 2021. Her work explores the threshold between material culture, otherness, value concepts and socio-spatial dynamics in the everyday. She delves into environments set by informal economies and, through her practice, explores how individuals’ stories, choreographic behaviors and affective relations coexist with economic precariousness. Her work makes use of different media, such as sculpture, video, drawing and installation.
