Profile

Aysel Akhundova is a transdisciplinary artist, documentary filmmaker, researcher, and producer based in Azerbaijan. Aysel was a part of the Femiskop Collective, a platform dedicated to creating a feminist discourse in Azerbaijan. She is part of the Salt Traces collective, where she investigates the climate change happening around the shores of the Caspian Sea and its effect on food consumption. She organized weekly film clubs online, “Daydream Cuts”, and was an organiser of an international documentary film festival in her hometown Baku. Aysel produces the documentary film, “Strange Sea”, directed by Lala Aliyeva. Aysel is currently an Advisory Board member of Cagdascilar, an innovative platform created to solve the many challenges faced by cultural workers in Azerbaijan.
