Profile

Ilkin Huseynov is an artist and cultural worker based in Azerbaijan. Ilkin works within a research process and experiments with different media and visual styles. He is interested in comparing cross-border realities with subjects such as urbanism, ecology, memory, constructs within realities, and imposed images, reflecting on these comparisons through people’s stories. A big part of his practice is experimentation with archival material, found images, printmaking, and bookmaking techniques, and investigating images that already exist in public spaces. In 2019, Ilkin co-founded Salaam Cinema Baku, a community-driven independent cinema and art space for creative movies and audio-visual performing arts. He has worked as a freelance photojournalist and had his works published in various media outlets, including CNN, Associated Press, AFP, Reuters, and more. Ilkin is the author of two published photo books, namely “Muhit” and “We apologize for the temporary inconvenience”.
