Profile
Dariya Kanti is a multidisciplinary artist and experimental filmmaker based in Uzbekistan. She works primarily with moving image, sound, and research-based installation, and her practice explores women’s memory, embodied knowledge, and marginalized histories in Central Asia through feminist and non-Western epistemological frameworks. Her work engages with gender equality, racialized marginalization, particularly in relation to Roma women, and questions of silence, visibility, and cultural transmission.
Based in Tashkent, Kanti works in a process-driven and ethically grounded way, privileging long-term research, care-based methodologies, and non-linear narrative forms over extractive representation. Her work is situated within discursive, curatorial, and research-oriented contexts at the intersection of art, social inquiry, and cultural resistance.
