Profile

Tetê is a poet, visual artist, and researcher based in Brazil. Their interdisciplinary practice spans poetry, analogue photography, performance, and video art, addressing themes such as memory, urbanism, and gender dissidence. Tetê challenges traditional art circuits by prioritising accessibility and engagement, opening dialogues on collective memory, urban life, and the potential of alternative narratives in contemporary art.

Tetê gained recognition through awards like the 7th Serrote Essay Contest, notably for “CRUZADAS”, a work revisiting Recife’s cruising spaces through historical testimonies and photo-poems. Currently, Tetê is developing ISTMO, a project exploring Recife’s bridges and their relationship with marginalized communities. Through their practice, Tetê navigates a space between local relevance and broader visibility.
