Profile
Yadanar Aung is a multidisciplinary artist based in Myanmar. Yadanar’s practice spans installation, performance, video, and sound, and in her work, she explores various contemporary issues around her at the intersection of life experiences, her identity, and her interest in spirituality. She also has an affinity for space, stories, and the psyche. Yadanar believes that making art is a form of ritual, which allows her artistic practice to be a tool for letting things go while also being a form of manifestation.
The first iteration of her first-ever performance piece, "I brew love potions for sad maidens", was collected by Aura Contemporary Art Foundation, Japan. Yadanar’s work has been exhibited at Myanm/art Gallery, Goethe-Institut Myanmar, and as part of the “Art–In–Tandem” exhibition at Helvatas Myanmar.
