The Institute for Islamic and Social Studies (Lembaga Kajian Islam dan Sosial, LKiS) is an NGO based in Indonesia. Founded on September 3, 1993, in Yogyakarta, it fosters intellectual debate at the grassroots level. It is notable for publishing Islamic books and promoting democratization, pluralism, and nonviolence across Indonesia.LKiS publishes the bulletin Ikhtilaf, carries out reform projects in Probolinggo and Tasikmalaya, and produces television and radio programs.
