Juan Rodrigues is an independent filmmaker and artist from Bahia, Brazil. Having had to give up his cinema course at the UFRB in 2012 due to personal circumstances, he persisted in pursuing a career in filmmaking . His short films project “Trilogia da Bicha Preta” which started in 2018 was created to understand, explore, and discuss the time and space that black LGBTQIAP+ people inhabit in the world. Together, these short films have won over 10 awards in some of the most notorious film festivals across the country, including “best film”, “best director”, and “filmmaker to watch”.
