Profile

Tatiana Vanessa López Churata is a multidisciplinary artist and researcher based in Bolivia. Tatiana’s practice spans sound experimentation, visual arts, ceramics, and design, and her work is heavily influenced by the various forms of indigenous expression in Bolivia. As a performer, she plays various wind instruments from the Andes, such as quenas, pinkillos and sikus in traditional and contemporary music. As a plastic artist, she works in the fields of ceramic instrument construction, painting, drawing, costume design, and sound installation. Tatiana is a board member, teacher, and performer on La Orquesta Experimental de Instrumentos Nativos (OEIN), a project dedicated to the study of indigenous music of the Andean highlands and the creation of contemporary experimental music, reflecting on the colonial condition of Latin American academic music and the generation of new pedagogies influenced by non-Western knowledges. Tatiana has exhibited works at DAAD Gallery in Berlin, in collaboration with composer Carlos Gutiérrez.
