Profile
Sophia Alami is an architect and artist based in Morocco. Her approach centres on "conservation through creation," working across diverse mediums such as writing, henna, illustration, and food to explore how archives can reimagine heritage in contemporary contexts. Through research on family archives and intimate memories, Sophia addresses the homogenisation of identity by highlighting overlooked voices and uncovering collective histories.
Sophia is a researcher for the Arabic Design Archive in Morocco and a contributing editor for the quarterly magazine Real Review, frequently writing articles. A graduate of the Architectural Association in London, her work focuses on preserving and transmitting cultural practices within domestic spaces.
