Profile

Oscar X. Illingworth is a non-fiction filmmaker and editor based in Ecuador. His films are constantly evolving through contact with others. Ultimately, what Oscar seeks in his work is to create spaces of empathy. 

Oscar edited the feature film “Ozogoche”, which premiered at IDFA 2023. In 2024, his short film “Los dos lados de la tortuga” premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam as part of the official competition and was screened at over 20 festivals. He is currently developing his first feature film, “Ámago de un incendio”, along with two short films. He defines his work as film-collages, focusing on non-fiction and exploring the relationships between nature, history, and the moving image. His films have been showcased at IFFR, La Habana, DOXA, Uppsala, Cartagena, and Mimesis.
