Profile
Mohit Shelare is an Amravati-based artist who trained as a painter and developed a self-taught practice in performance. His interest lies specifically in reading the body in protest practices which has resulted in works that expand on fundamental body gestures such as breathing, drinking, and standing experienced within mechanisms of violence. Through practices which include investigating sewage lines, biometric machines, and dance, Mohit brings together drawings and texts alongside remains of performances to create mental reconstructions of historical and fictive situations, sites, and events.
