Profile

Maen Hammad is a Palestinian documentary photographer and writer. His work explores themes of displacement, identity, and resistance, particularly through documenting the Palestinian skateboard scene over the last seven years. His work has been recognized and exhibited internationally in cities like New York, Paris, Dubai, and Florence, and is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Hammad has contributed to publications such as TIME, i-D, The New Yorker, and Caravan Magazine, highlighting his impact in both artistic and human rights circles.As a Magnum Foundation grantee and recipient of the Arab Documentary Photography Programme, he continues to shed light on underrepresented communities and stories in Palestine. His recent project, "LANDING," offers a collaborative look into skateboarding as a form of resistance and self-expression for Palestinian youth, intertwining personal and communal narratives of resilience against the backdrop of occupation.
