Lia Rodrigues is a choreographer and dance educator based in Brazil. She now lives and works in Rio de Janeiro, where she founded the Lia Rodrigues Companhia de Danças in 1990. Rodrigues' work is intertwined with social issues, exploring themes such as human rights, violence, and poverty through her innovative choreography. Her projects, notably "Pororoca" and "Pindorama," have received international acclaim and have been performed at prestigious venues and festivals across Europe and South America.Rodrigues is also recognized for her impactful contribution to the community of Maré, Rio de Janeiro, where she established the Free Dance School in 2004.
