Profile

Maryam Al-Khasawneh is a Jordanian multidisciplinary researcher and analog photographer. A historian by training, with a focus on the late Ottoman period, she currently creates visual histories that weave personal narratives into broader regional political themes. Her photography projects extend her academic research, exploring questions of borders, belonging, environment, and collective identities amid political unrest. Central to her work is an examination of how colonial interventions in the Arab world have disrupted traditional social networks, redefined connections to the environment, and shaped the ways communities exist and resist.
