Profile

Driss Ouaamar is a multi-disciplinary artist and filmmaker based in Ouarzazate, Morocco. A graduate of the National Fine Arts Institute of Tetouan and Film at Ibn Zohr University in Ouarzazate, Driss focuses on the intersection of ancestral and contemporary art forms. His work often incorporates mythology, rituals, and oral practices into visual art, aiming to revive oral traditions and facilitate their transmission to younger generations of North Africans. Through meticulous field research, he integrates relevant materials into his artistic practice, making a significant impact on cultural preservation.

Driss has participated in numerous collective exhibitions, including “All the Countries Without Legends Are Condemned to Freeze to Death” at LE18 in Marrakech (2021-2022) and “Watermark Memories” at La Maison de l’Oralité in Ait Benhaddou (2022).
