Profile

Dela Anyah is a multidisciplinary artist based in Ghana. Dela's practice centers on the tire industry’s social and material networks. Working directly within vulcaniser shops—informal roadside repair stations across Ghana’s urban landscape—he creates photography, video, sculpture, cartographic mapping, and participatory interventions that position repair workers as collaborators and knowledge holders.

Central to his practice is the transformation of discarded inner tubes into intricate woven textile works, exploring waste as a resource and questioning conventional notions of value. His practice excavates the hidden labor and economies of automotive repair, documenting both the geographical distribution of these sites and their role in Ghana’s informal economy. Through cartographic documentation and material transformation, he illuminates overlooked infrastructures for maintenance and repair. Bridging ethnographic research with aesthetic experimentation, Dela proposes new ways of seeing the material remnants of global industry and the circular economies that emerge from resourcefulness.
