Camila Alvarado is a visual artist and independent filmmaker based in Colombia. Camila holds a bachelor's degree in Visual Art from Pontifical Xavierian University. In her work, Camila uses photography, video art, and film to expose social issues regarding sexuality, gender, and religion in Colombia’s society, offering the spectator alternative spirituality models and showcasing how a queer body reacts to the patriarchy, with both vulnerability and empowerment. She has showcased her work in collective exhibitions at the Bogota Chamber of Commerce (2023), La Tertulia Museum (2021), Panama Contemporary Art Museum (2021), Bogota Platform (2020), Femgrafia Platform (2020), among others. Camila has also won the Young Artists Professionalization grant and the Art and Sexual Diversity Promotion grant from the District Institute of the Arts (IDARTES).
