Alya Segal is an art historian, independent curator, and writer based in Ukraine. Her practice focuses on alternative curatorial formats, grassroots initiatives, and the legacy of women artists in Ukraine, particularly in contexts shaped by war and institutional fragility.
Segal is the founder and curator of KRUCHI, an apartment gallery initiated in 2024 that later evolved into a nomadic exhibition format. She is a co-curator of the second Ukrainian edition of Secondary Archive, a platform amplifying women artists’ voices from Central and Eastern Europe. Since 2025, she has coordinated the Marharyta Polovinko Estate, preserving and representing the legacy of Marharyta Polovinko, a Ukrainian artist, volunteer, and soldier who was killed while serving on the frontline. She lives and works in Kyiv.
