Alexa Herrera is a photojournalist based in Mexico City. Alexa holds a degree in Photography from Escuela Activa de Fotografía and her work mainly focuses on human rights, gender violence, and enforced disappearance. Through different techniques, she seeks to create visual narratives to portray stories and social problems from an empathetic perspective. In 2021 Alexa participated in the panel “Gender violence and femicides. Photojournalists covering feminist protests” at the University Book Fair of the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo. She was also selected in the 2022 New York Times Portfolio Review.
