Profile

Yara Boustany is a multidisciplinary artist, choreographer, performer, and artistic researcher based in Lebanon. Yara's work spans choreography, visual art, and performance, exploring sensorial stimuli that guide humans toward unexplored dimensions of existence; she looks for enchantment and disturbance. Yara’s creative process draws on imagination and improvisation, unlocking the infinite potential of the body and voice, free from conventional constraints. She is the founder of Amalgam Studio Beirut, one of the few remaining performing arts spaces in Beirut, dedicated to alternative artistic expression.

Her latest work, "The Valley of Sleep", uncovers the hidden forces that hold Beirut together amidst its chaos. It reimagines spirits and creatures that transform ruins into the sublime. Yara has received multiple grants, including the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC), Culture Resource, and Art Jameel. She holds an MA in Choreography from Codarts and Fontys University of the Arts in the Netherlands, a diploma in Circus and Theater from CAU in Spain, and a BA in Cinema and Audiovisuals from ALBA in Beirut.
