Profile
Diego Hernández is a self-taught filmmaker based in Mexico. His work examines the different processes of image representation through the recording of his daily life, mixing documentary, experimental and autofictional methodologies. In his films he humorously addresses themes such as modes of protest, working conditions, student identity, the construction of emotional ties and the collective memory; challenging the dominant narratives around violence in Tijuana.
Diego’s films have been awarded at FICUNAM, FIDMarseille, MIDBO, ZINEBI and FICENS. His work has been featured in retrospectives at the EUREKA University Film Festival (2022, Bogotá) and at Spectacle Theater (2025, New York).
