Toluwalase Rufai is an architect and designer based in Nigeria. His practice explores the intersection of material, memory, and African ways of living, treating design as a tool for storytelling, cultural continuity, and sensory experience. Working from Lagos, he develops research-driven installations, objects, and spatial works rooted in African material knowledge and narratives.
Rufai holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Architecture with honours from Howard University in Washington, D.C. After early professional experience in the United States, he returned to Lagos, where he worked as a Project Architect at SI.SA from 2017 to 2025, leading projects across cultural, residential, and commercial contexts. In 2024 he co-founded Salù Iwadi Studio, a design studio at the intersection of creativity and cultural exploration.
