Thero Makepe is a multimedia artist based in Gaborone, Botswana, with active studios in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Thero earned his Bachelor of Fine Art with distinction from the University of Cape Town, specializing in photography. His artistic practice centers on the exploration of familial, social, and geopolitical histories through photography and the moving image. Thero's work delves into the interplay between collective and personal memory, infused with lyrical and spiritual elements.

He gained international recognition when he was selected for the prestigious Foam Talent program for 2024-25. In 2019, he co-founded The Botswana Pavilion, a significant initiative aimed at enriching Botswana's artistic landscape and archival resources.
