Profile

Sofiane Byari is a Moroccan multidisciplinary artist who graduated from the Fine Arts Institute of Tetouan. His work varies from installations, paintings, sculptures, and performances that showcase an interest in the everyday life, history, politics, hierarchy, indigenous culture, and the art market. Employing natural materials and collected objects, his work highlights the issues inflicted on Amazigh culture by modernization, as well as questioning the value of art and the necessity of institutions in showing one’s work. Sofiane’s practice results in hybrid objects showing the multiplicity of identities and the contradictory aspects of society. Sofiane has exhibited his works in Alyssart Gallery, Youmein Festival, Centre d’Art Moderne – Tetouan, and more.
