G. N. Devy is a cultural activist and literary critic based in India. Devy's work spans across cultural activism, literary criticism, and linguistic preservation. He is kown for his foundational role in the People's Linguistic Survey of India and the creation of the Adivasi Academy, aimed at preserving endangered languages and supporting indigenous cultures.His efforts have been internationally recognized, earning him the prestigious Padma Shri in 2014 for his contributions to the protection of nomadic communities and endangered languages.
