Niède Guidon is an archaeologist based in Brazil. Renowned for her work in the archaeology of South American civilizations and her relentless efforts to conserve the Serra da Capivara National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Her work at the famous Pedra Furada site and others in the Serra da Capivara has challenged previous notions about the peopling of the Americas and contributed to the park's designation as a World Heritage Site in 1991.She founded the American Man Museum Foundation (FUMDHAM) to support her work in the Serra da Capivara and has been instrumental in bringing international attention to Brazil's archaeological treasures. Her dedication to preserving Brazil's cultural and historical heritage has made her a national and international figure in archaeological circles.
