Naomi Rincon-Gallardo is an interdisciplinary artist based in Mexico. NAOMI works from a decolonial and queer perspective to create critical-mythical worlds that challenge neocolonial realities. Drawing from theatre games, popular music, Mesoamerican cosmologies, speculative fiction, vernacular festivities, and queer ecology, their practice invites viewers into dreamlike spaces where time moves in spirals rather than linear progressions. Through handcrafted, exuberant aesthetics—baroque costumes, experimental sound, and playful performances—Naomi resists normative narratives of development and productivity.
Rooted in Mesoamerican epistemologies, their work embraces fluidity, duality, and interdependence between human and non-human life. These pre-colonial worldviews inform fabulations that dismantle colonial binaries and foreground collective memory and spirituality. Naomi envisions pluriversal futures grounded in reciprocity and unpredictability, offering poetic resistance to extractive systems and technocapitalist imaginaries that treat the planet as a passive resource.
